About 3l AG
leading the way in
food-to-farm Repurposing
OUR COMPANY
Family-Owned Roots. Future-Focused Vision
3L Ag is a family-owned agricultural and sustainability company based in Bakersfield, California. What started as a commitment to responsible farming has grown into a full-scale food waste recovery operation serving both Fortune 500 corporations and local food producers. Our purpose is simple but powerful: to repurpose what others discard and help businesses turn waste into meaningful environmental progress.
Over the past decade, we’ve developed a streamlined system that takes food and packaging waste and turns it into valuable resources. By processing waste into livestock feed and recyclable materials, we help reduce landfill waste and contribute to more sustainable food production.
From our early days on Robinson Ranch to our modern processing and transfer facilities, our mission has never wavered: do right by the land, the animals, and the partners we serve.
Guided by the EPA’s Food Recovery Hierarchy
At 3L Ag, we align with the U.S. EPA Food Recovery Hierarchy, recognized as the leading framework for food waste management. Our programs focus on the highest standards in feed upcycling, certified destruction, and recycling, helping businesses reduce their environmental impact while recovering value from what was once considered waste.
We believe in going above and beyond—ensuring that where your waste ends up not only supports your goals but also contributes to a more sustainable future.

We are dedicated to protecting the planet through responsible waste management and the recovery of organic materials. Every decision we make, from feed formulations to transportation logistics, is focused on minimizing waste, reducing emissions, and preserving the Earth’s natural resources.

Who we serve
We work with partners across the food, beverage, retail, and hospitality sectors. From high-volume producers to global brands, our clients trust us to manage their excess materials with care, compliance, and consistency.
What happens to the byproducts of food waste?
All incoming materials are carefully sorted at our facility. Organic byproducts are upcycled into livestock feed, while inorganic materials like packaging are compacted and sent to appropriate recycling markets. Our goal is full utilization and minimal waste.
Do you provide services outside of California?
Yes. While our operations are headquartered in Central California, we serve businesses throughout California, Nevada, and Utah and can accommodate other regional needs as they arise.
What types of waste do you handle?
We manage both organic and inorganic waste streams. This includes packaged food products, raw ingredients, and bulk materials. Our process is designed to recover as much value as possible from each load.
How does your program align with the EPA’s Food Recovery Hierarchy?
We align with the highest tiers of the EPA Food Recovery Hierarchy for inedible food by focusing on feed upcycling and recycling. Our process is designed to divert waste from landfills and maximize the recovery of usable materials.
What is your approach to landfill diversion?
Landfill diversion is a core part of our mission. By recovering organics for upcycling and recycling packaging waste, we help extend landfill lifespan and reduce environmental risks like emissions and groundwater contamination.
Do you offer tours of your facilities?
Yes. We provide guided tours of our processing facility for clients and partners. It’s a chance to see our recovery systems in action and better understand how your materials are handled.
How does partnering with 3L Ag support my company’s sustainability goals?
We provide a streamlined path to greater environmental responsibility. By diverting food waste from landfills and recovering reusable materials, we help your business reduce its environmental footprint and align with recognized sustainability standards.
What happens once the waste arrives at your facility?
Upon arrival, waste is sorted by material type. Organic matter is evaluated for nutritional value and processed into livestock feed, while recyclables like plastic, cardboard, and metal are separated and compacted for reuse.
Do you provide tankers for transportation?
Yes. Our fleet includes tankers, along with dry vans, pump trucks, and refrigerated trailers to meet the needs of different waste streams and volumes.
